Useful Information for away fans
Away supporters are housed at one end of the stadium in the South Stand, which can hold up to 4,300 fans, though the usual allocation is 2,327. This stand offers excellent facilities, ample leg room, and outstanding views of the pitch due to the significant height between rows and the steepness of the stand. Away fans are known to generate considerable noise here, enhancing the atmosphere, which is further amplified by a drummer in the home section. Access to the stadium is strictly ticket-based. Away supporters can buy tickets on match day at the South Stand ticket office situated between gates 9 and 10, if available. Entry is gained by inserting the ticket into a reader that scans the barcode and signals a green light for entry. Turnstiles open an hour and a half before the game starts. The Madejski Stadium is a well-maintained, functional venue that retains a relatively modern appearance. Inside, the stadium offers a selection of food including burgers, hot dogs, and pies, and alcohol is available before the match and during halftime.
Pubs near the stadium
There is a small Fan Zone outside the East Stand that has a couple of mobile bar units which normally both home and away fans can use.
In terms of nearby pubs, there aren’t many in walking distance other than a bar in the Holiday Inn which is across the road. As such, we urge away fans to simply enjoy a few pubs in Reading Town Centre before getting a bus or taxi to the stadium.
